Her Royal Highness has organised her customary Christmas carol concert at the iconic London venue, with guests including members of the royal family, famous faces, and community champions who have made a difference in their neighbourhoods.

The sizable congregation will hear a mix of traditional hymns, orchestral pieces, and literary excerpts from performers including award-winning actors.

Centred Around Compassion and Love

The central message of the concert, held in the candle-lit Abbey on the afternoon, is kindness and showing love to others.

In the audience are Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose young girl was lost to a brain cancer, and who set up a charity, a charity called Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to aid parents with a child with a terminal illness.

"Your efforts, love, and understanding, often discreetly and without words, and without any thought of thanks or praise, make an remarkable change to the well-being of people," wrote Catherine in a note prior to the concert.

Carefully Paced Reappearance

The royal has been undertaking her own gradual return to the public eye after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, in November making her major oration since 2023, in which she talked about recognising the "selfless, commonly overlooked efforts of carers".

Music and Opportunity

Attendees entering the Abbey will enjoy performances from talented youth performers aided by the charitable trust Future Talent, established in part by the late Duchess of Kent to broaden opportunities for music lessons.

An 18-year-old named Carys Wood, who is a trumpet player and is from Pembrokeshire, has been supported by the charity, with funding assisting with instruments, tuition, and transportation expenses - and she said it was "incredible" to be taking part in the evening's event.

"Music can be very expensive," she stated. She is now enrolled at the Royal Academy of Music, and added that "everyone should have the opportunity" to develop their musical skills.

Generations Gathering

Her younger sibling Eliza, aged 11, who is a euphonium player, will also be at the Abbey. "It's unbelievable that I get to perform here in front of so many notable figures," she said.

Among the guests will be representatives of different generations.

That will feature nine-year-old Saphia Turner, honouree of a youth community award, who produces drawings and undertakes charity feats to generate funds for community pantries.

Festive Decor and Performances

The Abbey has been adorned with handcrafted festive wreaths, with TV cook Mary Berry and florist Simon Lycett contributing to their design.

The musical lineup includes singer Katie Melua, the Abbey's own choir and a Cornish sea shanty group, the group Fisherman's Friends, who said the chance to take part was "a dream come true."

The festive event titled 'Together at Christmas' will be broadcast on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
